Hi there!👋
So you are interested to know more about me 🧔 that’s great! 🎉

You can call it a biography, something like me talking about myself, my personality, my interests, and my passion.

I’m Amr Diab, a friendly fellow in his late twenties. People find me to be an upbeat, outgoing, detail-oriented, self-motivated person with high energy levels and boundless enthusiasm 🦸‍♂️. I make my living doing the stuff I love the most 😍, building web applications 👨‍💻 that make people happy and productive! I specialize in back-end web development using PHP/Laravel but have lately become quite accustomed to using Livewire combined with JavaScript & JQuery to get things done in the front-end 💪. Might be enough to call me a full-stack developer, but I’m planning on picking up Vue.js as my front-end framework of choice, and it’s already on my “things to learn” to-do list ✅.

As a teenager, I enjoyed learning about and building computers 💻. That’s why I was motivated to study anything related to computers, so later on I joined the faculty of computers and information to get my Bachelor's Degree in IT. Even though I specialized in IT in college I also studied the basics of Java, basics of C#, the fundamentals of OOP, web development, and user experience the first couple of years that helped me greatly later on when I switched to web development as a career 😊. During college, I completed the Cisco® CCNA Routing and Switching course as part of the Cisco Networking Academy® program, finished training in web design, and participated in countless tech summits, meetups, and events. After graduating college in 2015 👨‍🎓, a true journey of self-discovery began 🗺. Started my career working as a freelance graphic designer, a few months later a full-time Account Advisor at Etisalat UAE, then about a year later a Project Manager at Oman Made Marketing agency. In 2018 during my time at Oman Made Marketing, I was in charge of building the company’s business directory on WordPress, where I had to tweak a lot of PHP code to meet the company’s needs. And that was the turning point where I switched to Web Development and never looked back 🤩. Before starting my journey as a Web Developer I had to freshen up my skills, so I finished a 6 months coding Bootcamp & training at MUFIX where I practiced building apps using PHP& Laravel. Early 2019, I got my first job as a backend developer marking the start of a new chapter in my career full of passion, enthusiasm, and achievements 🥇🥇.

I’m a web developer for about 3 years now. My work is something I do with a lot of honesty, appetite, and commitment 🧐. Over the past years, I had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients and companies from all over the world (both freelancing & full-time). I don’t like to define myself by the work I’ve done. I define myself by the work I want to do 🚀. Skills can be taught, personality is inherent. I prefer to keep learning, continue challenging myself and do interesting things that matter. I’m currently self-employed and am working with a selected freelance client base, but I’m also open to full-time job opportunities 🔭.

Learning & Studying

I grasp new concepts and ideas quickly, able to pick up new skills and juggle different projects and roles with relative ease 💪. I'm always keeping myself up to date by watching conference talks, listening to podcasts 🎙, reading blog posts , and following tech minds & people with equal passion for web development on Twitter. While working my process is iterative; I approach each problem as a learning experience that informs the rest of the project 🎯. I tend to pick up new skills and tools as I go through each project. Even though I’m pretty good at working on my own; working in a team has helped me tremendously to widen my range of knowledge and gather experiences through various disciplines more efficiently ✨, because everyone is unique and has different skills, backgrounds and experiences. Therefore, others in a team can always help me see things from a different angle. In a nutshell: I am always experimenting, always learning, and never bored. // You can check out my learning resources, my favorite (Podcasts - blogs), and the people I follow on Twitter in my Uses List.

Collaboration & Open Source

I enjoy working with nice people because everything becomes so much easier 😉. After all, time is too precious to spend it doing something you dislike. I’ve always been fascinated by open source and how it encourages innovation through collaboration 🤝. For years I took open source products for granted, so I thought it's about time to give back to the community, and so I did. I have contributed to the Laravel framework itself 🤩, with some small tweaks. It might not be much but definitely won’t be the last. I have also started sharing my expertise and findings on Twitter and communities like laracasts.com; helping others and expanding my knowledge at the same time 👌.

Besides Working and Learning

In my free time, I love playing video games 🎮. Some of my all-time favorites are (Assassin’s Creed franchise – RDR2 – Far Cry franchise – Resident Evil franchise – Alien Isolation – The Witcher 3 – Dishonored 2 - Bioshock). I also enjoy reading books 📚, playing guitar 🎸, and working out 🏋️‍♂️ (without bragging about it 😄). I also like watching documentaries about space, wildlife, and ancient civilizations.

TV Shows

My all-time favorite TV shows 📺: Peaky Blinders, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Narcos, Spartacus, The Witcher, Sherlock, Game of Thrones.

My “Things to learn” to-do List ✅

This is a list of tools, skills, and technologies that I’m planning on (learning, using, and mastering) 🤓.
